Claire King is a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist and emotional eating and menopause-informed coach based in Norfolk, UK. She specialises in supporting women with anxiety, emotional eating, confidence issues, hormone-related emotional changes, and phobias using evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH).

One of the first questions women ask me is:
👉 “How many sessions will it take before I feel better?”

It’s a fair question. When you’re struggling with anxiety, stress, or low confidence, you want to know how long it will take before life feels lighter again.

The truth is: there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. Everyone’s journey is different. But I can share what I see most often in my Norfolk practice and what you can realistically expect.

🌿 What Affects How Many Sessions You’ll Need?

A few things play a role:

  • What you want support with — anxiety, phobias, confidence, sleep, stress.

  • How long it’s been going on — deeper patterns may take more sessions.

  • How much you practise techniques between sessions — small steps at home speed up progress.

🌸 Typical Progress I See

Most women notice some change within the first 3–4 sessions. That might be:
✨ Feeling calmer in the evenings.
✨ Noticing thoughts don’t spiral as quickly.
✨ Sleeping more deeply.
✨ Having a little more confidence day-to-day.

By 6–8 sessions, changes often feel more steady and integrated not just quick relief, but a new way of coping.

For some, 10–12 sessions gives space to work through deeper challenges and build resilience for the future.

🕊 Why Hypnotherapy Can Work Quickly

Because Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy combines CBT tools with hypnosis, the mind is more open to change. This often speeds up results compared to talking therapy alone.

That doesn’t mean it’s a “quick fix” but it does mean you may notice improvements sooner than you expect.

🌿 My Approach

I don’t tie clients into long programmes they don’t need. Instead, I’ll recommend a starting plan (usually 4–6 sessions), then we review together. You’re always in charge and the focus is on steady progress that feels right for you.

🌸 Final Word

So, how many sessions will you need? Enough to make lasting changes but not more than necessary. Many women start to feel lighter within weeks, with confidence and calmness building steadily over time.

The most important step? Starting.
